The Cape ground squirrel is widespread in Southern Africa; through Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, and Namibia. Its range covers most of Namibia but is absent from coastal regions and the northwest. Ground squirrels inhabit central and southwestern Kalahari in Botswana. Solitaire is a small settlement in the Khomas Region of central Namibia near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. It currently features the only petrol station, bakery, cafe, and general dealer between the dunes at Sossusvlei and Walvis Bay. Apple Pie History Many years ago, a Scottish adventurer, Percy Cross "Moose" McGregor, moved to Solitaire and opened the bakery. Today, this Desert Bakery are known far and wide for its sweet goods, and especially for its apple pie. A bakery in Namibia serving one of America's iconic dessert's -- apple pie! We continued our journey to Henties Bay. Along the way we passed the Tropic of Capricorn and the Moon Landscape. The Moon Landscape are famous for filming and taking interesting pictures, imagine yourself on the Moon.
