Welcome to my Channel! In today’s video, we’ll show you how to lay paving slabs like a pro – from preparing the base to finishing touches. Let’s get started! 🔨 Step 1: Planning and Measuring Before you begin, measure the area carefully and plan your layout. Make sure you have the right amount of paving slabs, sand, gravel, and tools. Mark the area with string lines or spray paint. 🛠️ Step 2: Excavation and Base Preparation Dig down to a depth of about 15–20 cm (6–8 inches), depending on the type of traffic expected. Then, lay a compacted layer of crushed stone or gravel about 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) thick. Use a plate compactor to ensure a solid base. 🏗️ Step 3: Laying the Sand Bedding Add a layer of sharp sand about 3–5 cm (1–2 inches) thick. Level it evenly using a straight edge or screed rails. This layer provides a smooth, stable bed for your paving slabs. 🧱 Step 4: Laying the Paving Slabs Start from one corner and work your way across the area. Place each slab carefully onto the sand bed, using a rubber mallet to tap it down gently. Maintain consistent spacing using spacers or a tape measure. 📏 Step 5: Leveling and Adjustments Check each slab with a spirit level and adjust as needed. Keep the surface slightly sloped (about 1–2%) away from buildings to allow water drainage. 🔩 Step 6: Filling the Joints Once all the slabs are laid, sweep kiln-dried sand or polymeric sand into the joints. Then, compact the surface lightly and sweep again to fill any gaps. ✅ Final Touches Clean the surface, and if needed, use a sealant for extra protection. Your paving area is now ready for use! 🔚 Outro: Thanks for watching!
