Southeastern and Thameslink Trains at Sevenoaks on October 1st 2025

1st visit to Sevenoaks in Kent on the Southeastern Main Line featuring Southeastern and Thameslink services plus some freight Sevenoaks first opened on March 2nd 1868 as Tubs Hill and at the time was one of 2 stations in the area The other being located on the Derwent Valley Line is Bat & Ball named after a local pub which no longer exists although the stations present name dates from 1950 and nowadays is served by Thameslink services. The present Sevenoaks station was largely overhauled in 1974 which has 4 Platforms Mainly Platforms 1 and 3 are used by Southeastern services to Hastings via Tunbridge Wells, Dover Priory via Folkestone Central and Ramsgate via Canterbury West mainly operated by Class 375 Electrostars. Platform 2 is used by terminating services to and from London Charing Cross via Lewisham presently used by Class 465 and 466s although in recent times some workings can be done by Class 376s and Class 707 City Beams which the latter was moved from South Western Railway in 2022. Platform 4 is used by half hourly Thameslink services to and from London Blackfriars Off Peak via Denmark Hill and Catford which is operated by 8 car Class 700s although at peak times some workings are extended to Kentish Town or Welwyn Garden City. At the time of filming the Class 465 and 466 Networkers that have been working on the Southeastern routes since the 1990s are on borrowed time and are due to be replaced in the next few years according to Southeastern with some being replaced by Class 377s including some being transferred over from Southern although in the long term new EMUs will replace the majority of the fleet which presently the procurement process is still ongoing.
