I grew up in Australia as a Cambodian diaspora kid, speaking Khmer only at home, with my parents, my grandma, never in public. Coming back to Cambodia, I thought I’d blend in… but instead, I found myself wondering: Do I even fit in here? In this vlog, we share the honest struggles of reconnecting with a language that was once sacred in our home, and how it feels trying to speak it publicly, often clumsily. I get embarrassed, I stumble, but I’m learning. Gabriel, my husband, is on this journey with me too... exploring a country that’s completely new to him, while I try to rediscover the one my family left behind. Together we’re learning what it means to start again in a place that’s both unfamiliar and deeply personal. This is life in Cambodia through the lens of identity, love, and the courage to return.
