I have fallen in love with Pearl Pours (without silicone) over the last months, and thought I’d share 3 of my favourite ways to beautiful pearls (see detailed recipes below). You might also want to check my video on testing various paint brands for pearl pours compatibility (brands do make a difference for this technique!!) • Pearl Pours: How brands matter - Test Series I found I achieve the best pearl pours with 2 different layers of paints that are stretched out against each other: The top coat mixture is the same for all my recipes: 30% Paint (e.g. Amsterdam), 70% Floetrol. Add water to achieve runny consistency (drips with no mount). In the examples I have layered Amsterdam Titanium and Zinc whites. For the base coat, here are my 3 preferred ways of mixing them (there are surely more!) Base coat option 1: Use of “reactive” paints (00:09) 30% Paint (Extreme Sheen aquamarine, Lascaux Pearlacryl turquoise, Decoart basic Navy blue), 70% Floetrol (Owatrol), Water. Thick consistency (drips with a mound). Base coat option 2: Use of regular paint with “reactive” additive (02:15) 30% Paint (any brand), 60% Floetrol, 10% Polyurethane varnish (Vallejo). Thick consistency (drips with a mound). Base Coat Option 3: Pro recipe based on Dwight Pours (03:35) please check out his original recipe here: • Collaboration with Sara Taylor! Abstract ... 3 parts Floetrol 2 parts Amsterdam white 1 part GAC 800 1/2 part Liquitex pouring medium 1/2 part Satin Enamel Water to mix to thin consistency (drips with no mound) If you enjoyed the video, you might want to consider subscribing: / @gabisflyingcolours #fluidart #abstract #pouring
