Sayeed Quadri has written some of the biggest hit songs of Bollywood. He is the lyricist behind songs Chal Ghar Chalein(Malang, directed by Mohit Suri), In Dino ( Life in a Metro directed by Anurag Basu). Tere Bin (Bas Ek Pal directed by Onir ), Bheege Honth Tere (Murder), Awarapan Banjarapan (Jism, directed by Anurag Basu). I have known Sayeed Quadri for many years and this is the first time I recorded an interview with him before a live audience. There is very little discussion of the process of writing songs in media, as poets seldom discuss anything at all about the process. Here Sayeed opens up about how he succeeded in the film industry, his association with Mahesh Bhatt, how he finds inspiration is simple things of life around him, the writing of the hit "Bheege Honth tere" that launched Emran Hashmi. In the end he answers questions from the audience. It is a treasure, this conversation, and it was not planned for sharing. We thought we can go ahead and share with everyone.
