It actually holds the Guinness World Record for containing the largest wine collection and having the biggest cellar of any other winery in the world! Here, David takes us through the extensive network of tunnels, wine collection, and tasting room at Milestii Mici. There are over 200 kilometers of underground tunnels where the wine is stores. Each tunnel passage, or “street” is named after a different type of wine. David’s guide Natalia explains that the wine collection holds over 1.5 million bottles of wine! Milestii Mici was founded in 1969 to store, preserve and mature high-quality wines. The cellars are comprised of 70% red, 20% white and 10% dessert wines. Once the tour of the property is wrapped up, it’s time for the good stuff – to taste the wines. David suggests booking a tasting lunch in advance to taste the wines with some typical Moldovan food and live folk music. Milestii Mici is located only 30 minutes south of Chisinau, which makes it a great day trip option from the capital.
