With the support of the ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Trust Fund, Kaysone in Lao PDR is pilot-testing digital tools that will teach students the skills needed by the labor market, increasing business efficiency and enhancing economic growth.The Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) has one of the fastest rates of urbanization in Asia. To boost economic development and attract foreign investments, a smart and able workforce is essential. The Asian Development Bank (ADB), with the support of the Australian Government through the ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Trust Fund, is working with the city of Kaysone to develop e-learning and digital tools that will equip future graduates with the practical skills required by the labor market. Academic institutions can also upgrade their training programs, while the private sector will be able to recruit the right employees.
