Starting a new project on our homestead! We are clearing land and marking trees for a horse paddock. Managing mud with French drains and planning a track system for natural horse movement. 🚜🌲 Welcome back to the journey! Today, we are shifting gears to the front of the property to begin the initial phases of a brand-new project: a horse paddock for the girls. We’re working with nearly an acre of land, and before the heavy machinery comes out, I’m going through to mark the hardwood trees we want to keep—mostly Post Oaks—while identifying the pines and brush that need to go. Living on this land for a year now, we’ve learned a lot about the "wet season" and the mud it brings. I discuss our plans for bringing in more clean granite gravel for the circle drive and how we’re incorporating natural elements like the creek and potential pond areas into a track system for the horses. This project is a big undertaking, and while the girls will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting, I’m here to show them the ropes. We also discuss the potential for a sawmill to turn our own timber into Kentucky four-board fencing!
