Development started after the lifting of the ban on video games in China in 2015. Based in Shanghai, the Chinese studio, Pixpil started their game development journey from a small apartment and later moved to a small office space on top of a Shanghai shopping mall. They had a lot of talent on the team which escpecially shows in the game's artstyle. A major part of their story, which we find out, is that they lost just about all of their game assets due to a server power shutdown during the shutdown last year.
