KGAN Iowa's News Now at 10 (A-Block) - Anchorless Format | March 23, 2026

Join Broadcast Plaza: www.discord.gg/EvY9MPxsU5 The 10pm a-block from CBS affiliate KGAN licensed to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, also serving the eastern Iowa area. Starting Saturday, March 21, 2026, KGAN switched to the new anchorless format that is currently across two other of Sinclair's stations, KHGI and KVII. The days before this, many of KGAN's talent, production department and more were laid off, with many given a ultimatum to sign a new contract or leave the station as a whole on March 20th. Newscasts will now contain prerecorded packages, with weather being the only live part of the show. There are a few recorded spots from the anchor desk, but the newscasts are mainly handled now by the reporters/MMJs. This is quite a shame to hear from Sinclair, but this is something they've been unfortunately slowly rolling out. So far KGAN is the biggest market where this format can be seen, behind KHGI and KVII.
