Since the end of the second world war , the US intensified its foreign policy in Africa for one its domestic interests and due to increased fears of the rise of communism. Every US president had distinct policies based on their interests and values, but all serving the same purpose. The involvement or the lack of by the US had so many outcomes during this intense decolonisation period, a period when nations were trying to be states . Such engagements lead to destabilization of nations, wars exploitation, dictatorships and gross human rights violations . However, they also lead to stabilisation, downfall of dictatorships ,improvement in trade and development and a second wave of colonialism called Neo-colonialism. Reagan's policy on apartheid southafrica is one of the most controversial in his 8 year term as the president. He bluntly supported the apartheid racial discriminations privately and publically . He threw the entire American support behind the south African government despite the entire American Public being against it.
