The 1970s were the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons, the era when you grabbed a cereal bowl, parked in front of a wood-paneled TV, and got swept away by space operas, monster-of-the-week battles, and surprisingly serious storytelling. In this video we revisit 7 forgotten 70s cartoons that still live rent-free in our heads and quietly shaped a generation: • Battle of the Planets (G-Force / Science Ninja Team Gatchaman) , bird suits, space battles, 7-Zark-7, and the show that introduced a ton of kids to Japanese animation. • Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato), serialized drama, the Argo, and the Wave Motion Gun that turned Saturday mornings into epic sci-fi. • Filmation’s Flash Gordon (1979–80) , pulpy, faithful Alex Raymond adventure with Ming the Merciless and movie-level ambition. • Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle (1976–80), a smart, book-accurate Tarzan with rotoscoped action and real ERB lore (“Tantor,” “Numa,” lost cities). • The Godzilla Power Hour (1978–79), Hanna-Barbera’s heroic Godzilla, Doug Wildey designs, Calico adventures… and yes, Godzooky. • Dynomutt, Dog Wonder & Blue Falcon (1976–77) , gadgets-on-gadgets, the Falconcar, Scooby-Doo crossovers, and the shared HB universe. • Sealab 2020 (1972), underwater science, conservation themes, and bold, educational adventure long before “edutainment” was a thing. If you grew up with these shows—or you’re discovering them for the first time—this is a love letter to the best 70s cartoons that deserve a comeback. Want to take another trip down memory lane?
