Stakeholders Meet Under Uganda Law Society To Address Vendor Evictions

The Uganda Law Society has convened a high-level stakeholders’ meeting to address growing concerns over the recent eviction of street vendors in Kampala. The meeting brings together legal experts, city authorities, and representatives of vendors to examine the legality of the evictions and explore sustainable solutions that ensure order in the city while protecting livelihoods. Participants emphasised the need for wider consultations and proposed the introduction of structured evening and Sunday markets as a practical alternative to accommodate affected vendors while maintaining trade order in the city.
