I love running my big town hall events for constituents in Bristol North West. But some local issues, whilst they wouldn’t fill a village hall, are still important and should be addressed in person, wherever possible. That’s why I’ve launched ‘Constituency Matters’. A small group of constituents will be invited to join me for one of these sessions whenever several constituents contact me about the same local issue. I held the first Constituency Matters session on 24th January 2026 to discuss the new business licences being proposed for the Downs – meeting with both exercise class participants and a constituent who runs a small fitness bootcamp. The proposed business licences are similar to the scheme being rolled out by the Council across all parks in Bristol, but with different fees and the areas available to small businesses to operate will be restricted to small zones.
