‘The god of Kom’ is a short documentary that tells the multi-faceted story of the spiritual and emotional relationship between the people of Kom, a village in the north West region of Cameroon and AFO A KOM, a 152 years old statue found in the Laikom palace believed to have mystical powers. Carved in 1865 and kept in the palace with other artifacts, AFO A KOM was stolen and sold to an American collector in 1955. It’s said that, while in America, AFO A KOM’s mystical powers destroyed many things around her. Some scholar traced the statue’s origin to Kom and on December 5th 1966, AFO A KOM was returned to Cameroon and ultimately to the Laikon palace, it’s rightful place where She is referred to as the gOD of KOM
