In Part 3 of my Black Pearl model build series, I bring the ship closer to completion by adding intricate details and creating a dramatic diorama inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Here's what you'll see: Custom Wooden Yards: Using the cut plastic yards as templates, I hand-carved new ones from wooden rods, adding realism and scale accuracy. Cloth Sails Shaping: The sail fabric was soaked in wood glue and shaped over the plastic sails for a natural, weathered look. The edges were folded and secured with threads using super glue. Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Flag: I used an Ortur Laser Master 3 to cut a stencil directly onto black fabric, then airbrushed the iconic skull and crossbones onto the flag. The result was a detailed, weathered flag, which was hoisted proudly on the ship. Diorama Creation: The Black Pearl was mounted on a long piece of driftwood sprinkled with bird sand to mimic the desert-like floor of Davy Jones’ realm. This scene captures Jack Sparrow’s desperate attempt to move the ship by pulling it with all his might. A custom-painted 1/72 scale figure of Jack Sparrow was placed in the foreground, straining against a rope tied to the ship’s bow rail. The entire scene is brought to life with stunning stop-motion animation and real-time shots, set to the hauntingly beautiful music "Charon's Chest" by my dear friend Erick Miotke. Stay tuned for the next chapter, where the sails, running rigging, and final touches will complete this legendary ship. I hope you enjoy the journey so far and would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
