A DARK AMBIENT MUSIC Journey | Hydrasynth Deluxe | Exploration: 25 | CAVERN

Thank you! 🙏 The Hydrasynth is playing solo here, and I built the sound across 3 oscillators on a 'multi' patch. So far this sound is using just 3 of the 6 available oscillators. The sound started to take shape nicely so I went for the single take audio recording. I will probably develop this patch further and add the other sound engine's 3 oscillators. The 3 oscillators that are used here are made up from wave scanning through two of them, and the 3rd was a single wave. LFOs were used to scan through the waves at slightly different speeds on OSC 1 and 2 respectively, so the sound varies and evolves nicely. Part of this is another LFO sweeping the filter and if I remember right, also the resonance separately. All in a mission to create a sound that is always slightly different and a little unpredictable. One reason I love the Hydrasynth is that it have 5 LFOs, and the 5 envelopes can be looped too, so almost like LFOs, so much movement and modulation possible... I absolutely love it! In Ableton Live in post production, I drew in automation for some subtle pitch frequency changes and at times some ring modulation. Also some echo delay and a convolution reverb as 'send' effects. Onboard the Hydra I set the reverb to a big 'Room', and in Ableton I complemented that with a Train Station IR (Impulse Response) convolution reverb and added that to the additional single audio layer from a field recording I made on my iPhone... I'll not say what the recording was of... For the sake of some mystery, see what you think it is ;-) Some light mastering was done in post to boost levels and I added some stereo panning to widen the mix. I felt that this time I would use one of my video footage recordings from the last few months... one that I knew I'd use at some point. I hope you like it.
