This has actually been visually inspected and verified by Galen Govier. He determined it has it's original vin tag, fender tag and the motor it was born with. Only 1,857 convertibles built total, just 84 were 383 automatics! EXTERIOR: It's a sharp looker. Decked out with the R/T badging and powerbulge hood. The body is straight and smooth. I don't see any rust or damage. The GoMango Orange paint is polished to a very high gloss finish. The jambs are painted nicely, weatherstrips were replaced. The black stripe on the hood adds to it's muscle image. The front bumper and bumper guards look new, the grill is very good original. It has optional fender turn signals and chrome racing mirror. The back bumper looks new, tail light lense is not cracked, the chrome trim has some pitting. New windshield. The black power convertible looks new and has correct Mopar grain. The wheels are painted and have new trim. Each one is wrapped in reproduction Wide Oval tires. INTERIOR: There are no splits in the dash pad and the vin tag is verified as original. The instrument panel is in excellent shape, I don't see any cracks, cuts or damage. It still has the factory AM radio. Down on the floor is new carpet and embroidered floor mats. The seats have been reupholstered. The plastic side panels, console and pillars are in excellent shape. New tough grip steering wheel. There is some pitting on the chrome slapstick shift bezel. New visors. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Visually inspected by Galen Govier, he has determined this is the motor this car was born with. It's a rebuilt 383-330 hp Magnum with an Edelbrock intake and a dual feed Holley carb. It's dressed up with Mopar finned valve covers and restored dual snorkel air cleaner. It features power steering and power brakes. All the components look clean and proper. It has the fan shroud, washer bottle, the battery is bolted down etc. The engine bay is smooth clean metal painted orange. The vin number on the core support and the cowl match the car, the original fender tag is in the file. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has a solid metal trunk that's been spatter painted gray and white. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are gloss orange. It has a spare and jack assembly. The weatherstrip, well liner and the mat have been replaced. UNDERSIDE: The front end looks like it's been rebuilt. It has a disc brake brake conversion in front, e-brake assembly is hooked up. New dual exhaust with resonators and square tips going out the valance. Fuel tank and sending unit were replaced. Bottom of the motor is clean, starter was rebuilt. Correct 1971 727 Torqueflite auto was rebuilt. The driveshaft was replaced. Rebuilt 8 3/4 rear end including ring and pinion set, master and axle bearings, taper bearing cone and outer axle seals. Floors are solid. Not too many people in the world own a Challenger convertible. Here is an opportunity to own a sharp looking, certified rare car!
