Punch ManTua: Regional Edition Italy 2018 Tasting & Review

What's up friends! I hope all my American friends here enjoyed their Thanksgiving & hopefully had a nice extended holiday weekend to go with it! I'm back with another cigar tasting & discussion. Tonight's focus is on the hotly-anticipated & highly-acclaimed Punch ManTua: A Regional Edition Cuban Panatela/Laguito no 2 produced for the Italian market by Habanos SA, in collaboration with Diadema SPA; the Italian Tobacco Monopoly, & Official Regional distributor for Habanos SA products in Italy. This cigar was conceived for the 2018 production year, but did not hit shelves until March of 2020. Between the COVID-19 Pandemic wreaking havoc on the world cigar market, Italy's rules regarding online tobacco sales, and the small number of only 2500 cabinets of 50 produced, these cigars have all but vanished from the online vendors. The €600 introductory MSRP for the ManTua is long gone; the only vendors with cabinets available online are selling them for about 3× the MSRP. These difficulties are compounded by the fact that the cigar has achieved much hype & acclaim from many of the enthusiasts lucky enough to try them, causing folks with the access and funds to obtain them to stock up on them. Join me, as I discuss my experience in searching a Cabinet of these gorgeous Cuban Panatelas out, & obtaining it from a private sale with a cigar enthusiast from across the pond in Italy. Having smoked several of these already from a previous batch of singles, I find this cigar to be worthy of the hype surrounding it, and I also found this to be a great opportunity to take a closer look at Habanos SA's Regional Edition program.
