You might expect senior students — those in their last years of high school — to be the most motivated and engaged. This is not always the case. As teachers, we need to find ways to spark engagement in senior high school students, even when they’re pleading to just play games. I’ve got a couple of ideas on how to do this. 1. Start your class with a past exam question — but skip the preamble. Throw the students in the deep end (1:10) 2. Get students working on this question individually first. This is a crucial step (1:33) 3. Use APPLICATION to promote student engagement 4. Take yourself out of the classroom. Not actually, just in a pretend sense.
