24 hours in Yerevan | First Impressions of Armenia 🤯

We spent 24 hours in Yerevan and what a first impression of Armenia!! Armenia is a small landlocked country located in the Caucasus region at the crossroads between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. This small country is incredibly diverse, rich in culture and history and has the most hospitable people! We did a road trip in Armenia for just over a week and it started in the capital city of Yerevan. Armenia is home to about 3 million people and roughly 1/3rd of those people live in Yerevan. It is actually known as the “Pink City” because of the stone used to construct many of the city’s buildings. It has a very modern feel with a lot of trendy cafes and amazing food and wine culture. We started our day at the Cascade Complex which is essentially a massive staircase located in the center of the city. It is made up of 572 steps and there are numerous platforms along the way up with green spaces, sculptures, fountains, and really great views back out over the city and Mount Ararat. After the Cascade Complex, we went to the GUM Market to pick up some snacks for our road trip. The market has tons of dried and candied fruits, nuts, spices, meats, cheeses and the list goes on. We had heard a lot about Armenian hospitality and we definitely got our first taste of that at the market. We were given free samples with basically every step throughout the market. We walked around the city for a while after the market before finding a spot to try some local dishes for a late lunch.
