Sam and Tom Rowley from Team The Mondymen have done it again, claiming back-to-back victories at Lake Monduran in the 2026 Wilson BARRA Series. After winning the Atomic All-Nighter earlier in the week, the pair returned to dominate the Humminbird-sponsored two-night event, finishing with a perfect 10/10 fish limit weighing 154.74kg. The event format saw anglers fish two evening sessions per day (4pm–midnight), creating a unique challenge as teams had to locate and convert bites across multiple short sessions rather than a single overnight marathon. Team The Mondymen started strong with 71.45kg on Day 1, but still trailed the leaders by around 14kg heading into the final day. A massive 83kg Day 2 performance saw them storm back to the top of the leaderboard and secure the win. In this winner’s interview with ABT’s Steve Morgan, Sam and Tom break down the techniques behind their success at Monduran. The duo reveal how their hand-carved wooden surface lure -affectionately nicknamed by Steve Morgan the “wooden pickle” - played a key role in triggering bites from big barra, especially once the sun went down. The lure’s subtle movement and slow presentation proved deadly on pressured fish, often convincing metre-plus barra to commit with only the slightest roll of the bait. They also talk strategy for two-day events, how they located fish throughout the dam, the challenges of getting bites during daylight periods, and the importance of patience when targeting individual fish on LiveScope. With another major ABT win under their belts at Monduran, the Rowley brothers continue to cement their reputation as the dam’s most consistent tournament performers — truly living up to the name “The Mondymen.”
