Join us for a special lecture by acclaimed documentary photographer and President of the Magnum Foundation, Susan Meiselas, who will explore the history of Magnum Photos’ exhibitions and the evolving role of photographers within them. Drawing from her decades-long career and personal experience organizing and contributing to landmark exhibitions, Meiselas will reflect on how her own work fits into and helps shape Magnum’s broader visual narrative. Presented in conjunction with Magnum’s First, this talk offers a unique behind-the-scenes perspective on one of the world’s most influential photographic cooperatives. This talk took place on October 8, 2025. About the Speaker Susan Meiselas is a New York–based documentary photographer known for her work on human rights issues in Latin America. A member of Magnum Photos, she is the author of several influential books, including Carnival Strippers, Nicaragua, and Kurdistan: In the Shadow of History. Her work has been widely exhibited and collected internationally. Meiselas is the recipient of numerous awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship, the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize, and the Sony Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award. Since 2007, she has served as President of the Magnum Foundation, supporting diversity and innovation in documentary photography.
