A stroke is damage suddenly to part of the brain usually due to a problem with a blood vessel. There may be no symptoms prior to the onset of a stroke, but many people have these mini-strokes, these temporary losses of function that can be a warning sign of an impending major stroke. There are two main ways in which a doctor could be found negligent in failing to prevent a stroke or minimize effects. One is by failing to recognize the mini-stroke the temporary loss of function that occurs weeks or months, sometimes before a major stroke. The second is in an emergency room setting where a three to four hour window is available, after the onset of a stroke to use a clot busting drug to reduce the damage. Failure to act within this period of time can be negligence. Doctors and hospitals will rarely acknowledge that they were negligent. If a person believes they were a victim of negligence and they've suffered a serious injury they should contact Cirignani Heller & Harman (CHHLaw.com) and talk to us about it.
