Seen here is a ride on a 4 train, operated by R142, bound for 161st Street-Yankees Stadium via express. Due to track maintenance, 4 trains weren’t running between 161st Street-Yankees Stadium to Woodlawn in both directions. Passengers who want service to Woodlawn would utilize nearby D train service as an alternative route for nearby 4 train service, then transfer at Bedford Park Blvd for free shuttle service to Woodlawn, stopping at Moshulu Pkwy. In this video, I managed to catch me an R142 coming from relay and starting service in route to 161st Street-Yankees Stadium. This trip was a fast ride since we were express all the way to the Bronx, but it wasn’t a crowded ride since most train stops were always jammed up with a lot of people, usually at 14 Street-Union Square that is, but this trip was fast. Plus, no homeless person interruptions along the way. Also, I got the cab window all to myself since it was a clear shot all the way to the Bronx and no interruptions whatsoever. In the end, it was taken out of service and went straight to relay after we got to 161st Street-Yankee Stadium, and went to 167 Street for relay, in order to return downtown from there. Although in my opinion, it should’ve wrong railed into the station, and into 161st Street-Yankee Stadium in order to do operator change since it was a G.O., and train that were heading to Yankees stadium should bypass 138 Street-Grand Concourse and come into the middle track. Passengers who would’ve need that station just utilize the 5 train for this situation. But operator change have to only happen at 149 Street-Grand Concourse for this reason for weekend work. But the ride was alright for me when heading up to the Bronx. Enjoy! Date taken: February 28, 2026
