The pump/filter your pool came with is just barely up to the job of keeping the water clean. Adding a Hayward skimmer improved the pump operation and pool water clarity. I tried the intex clamp on skimmer first, it actually made the pool pump work harder and reduced the flow of water. The Hayward skimmer increased the flow of water and reduced the load on the pump. the second unit on my plumbing is a salt cell, my pool has a low concentration of salt in it. the salt cell generates chlorine to treat the water. those of you needing to find the adapter from the threads on the PVC to the Intex hoses, search the web for "40mm to 1 1/2 Inch Conversion Kit (For Intex and Bestway Pools)" I found mine on Amazon, and it's also sold on Ebay, pool supply sites are a good source as well. however, due to covid, everyone is buying pools and they're getting hard to find.
