Welcome to the official documentary of the Advocacy for Women with Disabilities Initiative (AWWDI) training program. This video showcases the transformative journey of girls with disabilities in the FCT, Abuja, as they break barriers and claim their future. About the Project: Titled “Empowerment of Girls with Disabilities through Inclusive Education, Economic Independence, and Protection from Gender-Based Violence,” this initiative is a pilot project under the African Disabled Girls Empowerment Pilot Project, supported by the Commonwealth Disabled People’s Forum (CDPF). What You Will See: Vocational Excellence: Watch our trainees at the JSS Paseli Skill Centre in Kuje master skills in catering, cosmetology, tailoring, hairdressing, and agribusiness. Inclusive Innovation: Witness how we adapt training to meet diverse needs, ensuring no girl is left behind—from specialized teaching strategies to students successfully performing tasks using their feet. Real Impact: Hear from the girls themselves as they gain technical skills, boost their self-esteem, and even begin generating their first small incomes. Protection & Support: Learn about our integrated approach to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness and the psychosocial support provided by our dedicated counselors. Our Vision: We believe that equal rights mean equal opportunities. By equipping these young women with vocational and entrepreneurship skills, we are fostering a generation of confident, self-reliant, and active contributors to society.
