At various times in history, prairies have flourished in Ohio. A few restored and remaining prairie ecosystems can still be found in the state today. Naturalist and retired Hefner Museum Curator Don Koller discusses the restored prairie ecosystem that can be found at Hedgerow Road at Hueston Woods State Park in Southwest Ohio. This lesson meets Ohio science standard: 3.LS.2: Individuals of the same kind of organism differ in their inherited traits. These differences give some individuals an advantage in surviving and/or reproducing. Plants and animals have physical features that are associated with the environments where they live. Plants and animals have certain physical or behavioral characteristics that influence their chances of surviving in particular environments Acknowledgements: Thank you Julie Robinson, Director of Celia Berg Center for Environmental Education, for videography and lesson design.
