From the Mahayana of the Lotus Sutra to faith in Amida Buddha

In this 30 minute video, the essence of Mahayana (Great Vehicle) Buddhism is described, followed by my statement of faith in Amida Buddha, all with a visual overlay of images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The Mahayana description, which emphasizes tactfulness or expedient/skillful means as the Buddha's way of teaching, is drawn from content in The Sutra of Innumerable Meanings and from The Lotus Sutra. I believe that the Lotus Sutra leads one naturally to a simple faith-oriented approach to the spiritual life; (see, in particular, the chapter on the eternal life of the Buddha). This "Pure Land" path is one that is easily trod by all. Providing such a path for all is, in my view, the primary goal of the Buddhas as they seek to relieve the suffering of beings.
