Using the wet in wet method and just 2 colours - paynes grey and raw sienna - you can paint some really wonderful landscapes by just letting the paint and water flow together and seeing what happens. The trick is to look for any opportunities to turn particular marks into landscape features, and learn to exploit those opportunities to the full. This can take a bit of practice, but it is a wonderful way to loosen up, take the pressure off yourself and have fun! It's a great way to find new effects and to get rid of any tension as a warm-up exercise before a more planned painting. Materials: Cotman Paynes Grey and Raw Sienna, Saunders Waterford 140lb/300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper, 11" by 15"/28cms x 38cms. It is taped to my board and my bord is at an angle of about 45 degrees, or flat, or I can tip and tilt it to get the water to flow. I use ordinary fine table salt for effects and a water mister spray. I use various brushes as shown in the demo, but use any similar ones you have.
