Herndon Stadium in Atlanta has a long and varied history, from its opening in 1948 as the largest stadium at an institution in the Atlanta University Center, and the only one with stands on both sides. Over the years, the stadium hosted a range of events, including sports games, concerts, and even Olympic field hockey during the 1996 Summer Olympics. It was expanded and renovated ahead of the games, and even used as the stand-in for the demolished Fairfield Stadium in Huntington, West Virginia during filming of the 2006 movie "We Are Marshall." Despite its storied past, the stadium now stands as a haunting symbol of urban decay. Due to the financial hardships of Morris Brown College, the stadium was abandoned and is now in a state of disrepair, gutted by vandals and covered in graffiti and trash. Its sale created controversy due to a land-use agreement with other members of the Atlanta University Center and historic property deeds. But there is hope for this once-great arena. Now owned by Clark Atlanta University, plans are underway to restore the stadium to its former glory. For now, though, Herndon Stadium remains a testament to the fleeting nature of time and the enduring beauty of decay. Join us as we explore this abandoned site, capturing its eerie beauty and uncovering the secrets of its past. Mini 3 Shot by @odiengineering #atlanta #herndon #urbandecay #djiavata #fpv #travel #drone
