A 35-year-old man in Surat allegedly killed his wife and 4-year-old son and stabbed his parents before attempting to harm himself on Friday, the police said. The man and his parents are in critical condition at a hospital, while the bodies of his wife and son were found at their eighth-floor flat in the Sarthana area. According to the police, Smit Jiyani, a native of Savarkundla in Amreli district, used a knife to slit the throats of his wife Hiral, 30, and son Chahit as they slept in their flat at Surya Towers. He then attacked his father Labhubhai, 55, and mother Vilasben, 53. The police said that when Vilasben ran out of the house, screaming for help, Smit tried to kill himself using the same knife.
