Hello :) This is the requested transcription I've done of the Elvis Presley version of the song "Kentucky Rain". This song was released as a single in 1970. The bass player on this track was Tommy Cogbill. You can find this transcription at Muzento when you sign up with an Advanced Lesson Plan. Tommy Cogbill was such a tasty player. I've transcribed a few of his parts before and it's just a pleasure every time to work on and learn. I can see why the recording studios used him so often. He played so clean and with lots of feel and dynamics. I would just love to know if this was a written part or if it was a chord chart. And if it was a chord chart, what were the circumstances of rehearsing and how long would they have had to get it ready before the red light goes on. This bass line is functional, yet creative . Melodic and rhythmic. Bass lines like this make me happy to be a bass player :) Play with dynamics and feeling and be as a accurate as you can with the rhythms. It's a little tricky in spots, but it's a wonderful bass line to learn and play along with. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :) Happy new year to everyone and here's to hoping we find a little more peace in our world in the coming year.
