In this video, I will show you one of the FIRST Cocktails in The Brandy Crusta. A highly likely predecessor to the venerable Sidecar, this drinking was initially created by Joseph Santini in 1850 while he was in New Orleans and returned to the city through Chris Hannah. Utilizing Brandy, Lemon Juice, Maraschino, Angostura Bitters, Orange Curacao, Simple Syrup and a sugared rim, this drink will please many palettes that may not enjoy the Sidecar. To create this Cocktail, you will need the following: Your drinking vessel of choice Lemon Juice Brandy (or Cognac) Maraschino Liqueur Angostura Bitters Orange Curacao Simple Syrup Granulated Sugar (for the Rim) Jigger Shaker Strainer To actually make the Cocktail: Prepare your glass by coating the outer rim with lemon juice, then dip and roll the rim of your glass in Granulated Sugar, preferably on a plate. .5 oz./ 15 ml Lemon Juice .5 oz./ 15 ml Simple Syrup 1 Dash Angostura Bitters 1 Barspoon of Maraschino Liqueur .25 oz./ 8 ml Orange Curacao 2 oz./ 60 ml Brandy (or Cognac) Combine ingredients in a Shaker and shake over ice for 10-15 seconds.
