Doug Laux CIA | How NOT To Get In Former CIA case officer and NYT best-selling author, Doug Laux, discusses some of the nuances of the reality of being in the Central Intelligence Agency versus what you typically see in movies and on TV. Doug previously co-starred on the hit reality Bravo TV show, Spy Games, and also starred in and produced Finding Escobar's Millions for Discovery. Doug wrote a NYT best-selling memoir, Left of Boom, detailing his time serving as a covert operative that went undercover for eight years in Afghanistan and the Middle East in order to infiltrate the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. In a previous video, Doug talked about the common misconceptions of how one joins the CIA and its corresponding recruitment activities. Contrary to popular belief, there is no "back door" into the CIA and while the Agency does actively promote the organization in public, Doug explained that the only way to begin the process is to apply online at https://www.cia.gov/. In this video, Doug takes it a step further and reveals the surest way to NOT get into the CIA is by making it clear that you did little to no research about the hiring process in advance. The CIA's website does an excellent job of explaining what the various positions are at the Agency and what they are looking for in a candidate. Receiving over 300,000 applications per year, the CIA has the luxury of selecting only the very best candidates, and they will. Finally, Doug recommends this Washingtonian article for potential candidates who are worried about their social media accounts and how that might affect their application process. https://www.washingtonian.com/2021/11/09/h... Follow Doug's channel to learn more about his time in the CIA and to pick up tips and tricks to help you determine if you might have a friend or relative that is also leading a version of a spy's double-life or if you've simply encountered another 'operative by osmosis.'
