Astronomers have identified the closest ever Einstein ring, a rare phenomenon where light from a further-off galaxy is bent by the gravity of a galaxy closer to Earth. The ring was previously thought to be one galaxy and was identified more than 100 years ago. "It's one of these rare, rare times where you can actually see the warping of space that was predicted by Einstein," Stephen Serjeant, Professor of Astronomy at the Open University and one of the paper's authors told the Associated Press.
