January 26 to Feb 8, 2026 - Year Everything Frozen - Port Jefferson Harbor, NY The days that Long Island stood still. Waters surrounding the island froze. There is something magical watching the ferries run non-stop plowing through the ice. Port Jefferson Village and the surround neighborhoods along the waters here in this area is a very magical place. I am lucky to have this area as my home. Storm Fenn rolls in Jan 25, 2026. It dumps 18" of snow in this area. The temperature drops down into the teens with some days approaching 30°F as a high. Salt water freezes at 28°F or below. The harbor melts completely by Feb 7th but then artice air comes in on Feb 7th afternoon into Sunday Feb 8th. Air temperature with wind chill is well below 0°F. It freezes up the whole harbor again! We will finally arise out of this deep freeze on 2/17/2026 with forecast to reach finally above freezing to 40°F and will stay there for a few days.
