PERRIN & ROWE BRASSWARE The Perrin & Rowe design team employs sophisticated 3D modelling and CNC milling machines to produce sand core molds and casting dies. THE PROCESS - The best quality brass ingots are imported from Germany to melt down and pour into the casting moulds. Sandcores are produced in resin and sand to provide the internal tubes in the cast items. The resin binding the sand dissolves at extreme temperatures during the casting process and leaves a passage for the water to pass through the tap. The loose sand then runs freely out of the tap. Molten brass reaching temperatures of 1000°C is hand-poured from the crucible into the mold. Runners and risers are trimmed off the castings and recycled. All brass swarf from the process is sent away for recycling. Cast components are finished and detailed by CNC lathes Rods of high-quality brass are loaded into the CNC machines to produce components for the taps. Each component is individually soldered on to the tap by a skilled team in the soldering department Soldered spouts are pressure tested under water. Any air bubbles indicating a leak and it is returned for more solder. A team of polishers transform machined and soldered components into beautiful parts ready for plating. Each component has a plating jig designed specifically for it to hang on. Components are firstly Nickel plated to a 15-20 micron thickness in a process which takes two hours. Then an additional coat of Chrome, Bronze or Gold is added for those finishes. Each item is carefully quality inspected and catalogued for assembly. All the components come together at assembly and are fully hand built into beautiful products. Each tap is pressure tested to ensure every seal and valve is working perfectly.
