Optimal timing of radiotherapy following radical prostatectomy

Prof Chris Parker speaks to ecancer at ESMO 2019 about the first results from the RADICALS RT trial. He explains that the trial was looking at the optimal timing of postoperative radiotherapy after radical prostatectomy. Prof Parker reports that there was no significant difference between adjuvant radiotherapy or observation with the option of salvage radiotherapy. However, with the latter approach, the majority of patients may be able to avoid radiotherapy altogether and so Prof Parker recommends observation with the option of salvage radiotherapy as the best approach.
