We all have a BLESSED, BUT situation in our life... • The "Rachel" Illusion: We often believe that if we just get a specific person or achievement, everything will be okay and our lives will be "fixed". • The "Leah" Reality: When we finally obtain what we wanted, we eventually find it is "Leah"—it cannot provide the ultimate meaning or satisfaction we expected. --Responses to the "Leah" REALITY----people typically react to this disillusionment in one of four ways: 1. Blaming the Object: Thinking you just need a "better" version (a better spouse or job), which Keller calls the "fool's way".—REPLACING IDOLS WITH MORE IDOLS… 2. Blaming Yourself: Falling into self-hatred because you feel like a failure for not being happy. TRYING TO FIND HEALING IN YOURSELF… 3. Blaming Life: Hardening yourself into a cynic and refusing to hope for anything. 4. Accept The Christian Way: Realizing that your heart's true desire is for God and that earthly things are meant to point toward Him rather than satisfy you. eventually everything that LOOKS like RACHEL---ends up still feeling like LEAH----PROMISES to FILL YOUR EVERY VOID like JACOB waiting for RACHEL only ends up being---LEAH IN THE MORNING… NO earthly thing—whether a spouse, a career, or a success—can truly fulfill the deepest longings of the human heart. -- if there’s nothing in this world that ever is RACHEL including RACHEL herself---then RACHEL MUST be BEYOND THIS WORLD---if there’s nothing in this world that will ever satisfy me, then it means that I am made for something beyond this world-- THE GOSPEL---JESUS is the greater RACHEL… --RACHEL IS SAYING, IF I COULD JUST HAVE _______... –LEAH IS SAYING, IF THEY WOULD JUST _______....JACOB is SAYING, IF THIS SITUATION were BETTER I’D FINALLY HAVE PEACE…. ---AND GOD IS SAYING----WHEN ARE YOU GONNA LOOK AT ME---BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE WHAT you’re LOOKING FOR… GENESIS 30:13--- HOW HAPPY I AM--- the women will call me HAPPY… ---ANYTIME you tie your happiness to what others think or say about you---YOU WILL NEVER be happy… JACOB's STORY is a REMINDER that we are ALL IN a PROCESS of being SANCTIFIED. 1. Justification – ONE-TIME Event (Past) --- “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:1 (KJV) ----We are saved from the penalty of sin. 2. Sanctification – Ongoing (Present)--- “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (KJV) ---This is the lifelong process of being made holy, set apart, and conformed to the image of Christ. It is NOT perfection but progression. ---We are being saved from the power of sin. 3. Glorification – Future Hope---- “Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” – Romans 8:30 (KJV)----One day, when Christ returns, we will be transformed — no more sin, no more death, no more struggle. ---We will be saved from the presence of sin. In Summary: Justification → ONE-TIME event, already complete. (Past) Sanctification → A daily, ongoing process. (Present) Glorification → Our eternal future with Christ. (Future) Believer, take heart: you are already justified, you are being sanctified, and you will be glorified. This is the unshakable promise of God (Philippians 1:6). This story serves as a picture of the gospel in that, just as Jacob did not deserve Esau's mercy, humans are reconciled to God through a grace they did not earn, changing a relationship of enmity into one of reconciliation. ----Reconciliation Begins with God -----Before Jacob could reconcile with Esau, he first had to be "broken" by God. ----The thing he was afraid of was waiting to embrace him. 📘 Connect with Us: Explore more about God and get plugged in at Victory by going to https://victory.com/online.
