Disassembly of Your Bike for Transport & Storage We understand you were thrilled to receive your bike assembled and ready to roll, but sometimes it’s helpful to know how to disassemble your bike too. You may want to store it in a small space like a balcony or put it inside a vehicle that doesn’t have a bike rack. With few or no tools you can make your bike a bit smaller, and a little lighter so it’s pretty manageable. A great tip we cover is to insert a block (or even a business card) between the brake pads once the front wheel is removed. The block prevents the caliper from locking in a closed position if the front brake lever is engaged accidentally during shipping or storage. We’ll get to that one in a future video (it’s actually a pretty simple fix).
