For my very first real DIY woodworking project, I decided to design and build a queen-size bed frame out of solid wormy chestnut hardwood. The process started with a simple sketch, which I then modeled in 3D using SketchUp. I ordered a large amount of timber for the project, knowing I might make a few mistakes along the way. In total, the bed used around 30 meters of wormy chestnut — with more than 10 meters left over for future projects like matching bedside tables. The full build took approximately 80 hours spread across several weekends, with the entire project coming together over about a month. Thankfully, I had some help during the process — otherwise, it would have taken even longer! It was definitely a big challenge for my first major build, but it all came together beautifully, and I couldn't be happier with how the bed turned out. Thanks for watching!
