Piano arrangement: Anu Ghataore Photography: Sena Ghataore The highly acclaimed film ‘Veer-Zaara’ (2004), directed by Yash Chopra, instantly became an international success, winning multiple awards. ‘Veer-Zaara’ turned into India’s highest-grossing film of the year, and the highest-grossing Indian film overseas in 2004. The romantic drama revolves around Veer (Shah Rukh Khan) and Zaara (Preity Zinta). The soundtrack to Veer-Zaara is based on the rejected music composed by Madan Mohan, whose son found his recordings after his death. The tunes were around 50 years old at the time, however, Yash Chopra decided that they should be used in this film. Mohan’s son Sanjeev Kohli was delighted with the success of his late father’s music, as the once underrated and rejected songs had become widely celebrated. This soothing piano cover of ‘Tere Liye’ is deliberately on the ‘slow’ side.
