In 1981, Staten Island producer Michael Nerlino decided to reinvent Tiny Tim as a disco act. Nerlino Tiny perform a few other disco songs he had written like ‘Tell Me That You Love Me (My Sweetheart),’ ‘Honest, Dear, Honest,’ and ‘Soul Twister.’ Nerlino was adamant that Tiny not use his falsetto and also added a couple female R&B backup singers to the mix. This song was recorded some time after May 1978. Nerlino promoted the album heavily and the record’s picture sleeve featured illustrations of Tiny on either side, and advertised ‘Tell Me That You Love Me’ as the ‘title single’ from the forthcoming album 'Tiny Tim: Tell Me That You Love Me.' The records came with a printed note from Tiny Tim with a phone number for ordering ‘Tell Me That You Love Me’ bumper stickers and straw hats. ‘Tell Me That You Love Me (My Sweetheart)’ and ‘Honest, Dear, Honest’ were also issued together as a single. The record is very scarce and few copies have been found. The first of two singles from the label Solid Brass; 'Comic Strip Man' backed with 'Tell Me That You Love Me.'
