Plenty of action on & off Loch Arkaig Osprey Nest Two involving Dorcha, Louis & Garry LV0 2 Jul 2024

Check out their live cameras on Nest One & Nest Two supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery at https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/ospreys In this clip - LizB unpicks the action: 13.37.03 An Osprey flies in from the right and lands in the Scots Pine tree, just to the left of the front perch. Alarm chips heard. Osprey moves onto neighbouring branch 13.46.18 Osprey on SP tree flies onto next branch then flies off at 13.46.49 before coming in to land on the nest - it’s Garry LV0 13.48.53 While Garry is on the nest another osprey lands in the SP tree - Louis. Garry alarm chips at him 13.49.44 Garry leaves, Dorcha arrives three seconds later with moss. Louis is still in the pine tree 13.49.54 Garry does a fly past 13.50.21 Garry lands on the nest while Dorcha alarm calls at him. She immediately sees him off and he circles round in front of the nest. 13.53.29 Dorcha leaves and appears to dive bomb Louis on the pine tree, but maybe just flying over to join him. They both fly off. A young male Louis and a young female Aila take up residence and raise one male chick to fledging: Lachlan JH4. 2018 Louis & Aila return but a Pine Marten steals all their eggs. 2019 Louis & Aila return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Mallie JJ0 and Rannoch JJ2. 2020 Louis & Aila return and raise two male and one female chicks to fledging: Doddie JJ6; Vera JJ8 and Captain JJ7. 2021 Louis returns but sadly Aila doesn't. Louis takes up residence on a new nest with a new mate Dorcha and they raise two male chicks to fledging: Aspen LW3 and Alder LW4. This is designated Nest Two, no one takes up residence on Nest One. 2022 Woodland Trust install a nest cam on Nest Two. Louis & Dorcha return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Willow LW5 and Sarafina LW6. Still no residents on Nest One. 2023 Louis & Dorcha return, and raise one male chicks to fledging: Ludo LY7. No residents on Nest One but male Garry LV0 spent a lot of time flirting with Affric 152 despite her mate Prince still being around. The Woodland Trust nest cam was installed by Wildlife Windows in Arkaig Community Forest, it is funded by The People's Postcode Lottery and operates on wifi provided by Locheilnet.
