This is my journey of taking a divorce—a decision that, while difficult, brought me peace. This story is not just about the act of divorce but the reasons behind it, the battles I fought with my conscience, and the freedom I eventually found. I admit that I took a divorce myself, and I also admit that divorce is not something a woman should be proud of. I acknowledge that the home I was married into didn't cause me any physical pain, but there was a constant torment of my conscience. However, the torment of conscience is no less of a burden, and that's why I chose to divorce. I feel no regret, shame, or sorrow over my decision. The stigma of being divorced felt more like a badge of honor to me. The relief and peace I found after leaving a life of comfort and returning to a life of simplicity are unparalleled, almost heavenly. Don't be surprised. I will explain why I prayed so fervently to remove the symbol of marriage from my forehead and instead, bear the mark of divorce. I was born into a poor but very respectable family. My father was a school teacher, dedicated to educating children and instilling morals in them. He often taught us that those who engage in dishonesty and profiteering are bound for hell, as they play with the health of the nation and weaken society. This upbringing made it impossible for me to compromise with wrongdoing. After completing my Master's degree, I hoped to become a teacher or even a lecturer to make my father proud. But when circumstances changed, I found myself married into a wealthy family, where I gradually discovered that their riches were tainted with unethical practices. As I confronted the reality of my in-laws' business practices—adulteration and deception—I realized that I couldn't be part of such a household. The constant struggle between my conscience and the environment around me led to the ultimate decision to divorce. Despite the challenges, I stand by my choice, feeling liberated and at peace.
