ALOHA !! We are now on top of the snowy mountain of Mauna Kea, which means "White Mountain" in Hawaiian. Mauna Kea locates at the center of the island, and often described as piko (=Belly button) of Hawaii. There is a legend in Hawaii, that there is a snow goddess called "Poliahu" on the Mauna Kea. The title of the song is "Ku'u Poliahu", meaning, "My Poliahu" and it is said that he illustrated Mauna Kea/Poliahu in a reflection of his own mother that nurtured and cared for him. Being one of the oldest volcanos on the island, Mauna Kea stands still and tells us the history of the landscape and the culture. This mountain is the important water source for the island and because of Mauna Kea, Hilo can be so lush and vibrant in greens. This new song released in 2016 by Kalani Pea, the popular Hawaiian singer who originates in Hilo, who grew up looking at this mountain every day. Every year, we look forward to the beautiful view of snowed Mauna Kea. We don't own any right of this song. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are full-time Airbnb Experience Hosts located in Hilo, Hawaii.
