The main intent of the talk is to provide the clientele group with the perspective that children need to be equipped with knowledge, skills and dispositions that will help them deal with life challenges. This is the main purpose of education and not scoring high marks in exams. The teachers have to create spaces in the classroom to integrate these life skills that will enable them to be responsible and contributing members of the society. School teachers and school heads need to remember that there are four purposes of education which is (a). developing spirit of inquiry in children, (b) education for critical thinking, (c) education for empowerment and (d). education to make responsible citizens.
