Here is the video that will finally cross every single GTE that raced at Le Mans in 2023 off the list. The Ferrari 488 GTE was one of the more succesfull GTE cars, with its 2018 EVO variant racing until the end of GTE in 2023 and the car I captured in this video. The car would win over 40 races in the WEC, IMSA, and ELMS out of the 80 it competed in, an astonishing win percentage, making it a popular car for privateer and smaller teams. It would win its first race at the 2016 6 Hours of Silverstone, and its last at the 2023 6 Hours of Fuji, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in 2019 and 2021 in the GTE Pro class with AF Corse. The 488 GTE was the successor to the famous 458 GTE, an arguably equally as successful GTE car. The most noticeable difference between the two was the turbocharged engine of the 488, with both the 488 GTE and GT3 replacing the 4.5 litre naturally aspirated V8, with a 3.9/4.0 litre twin turbocharged V8. While a lot quieter than the screaming 458, I still think both racing versions of the 488 sound nice. They arent loud but arent too quiet (especially in comparison to its replacement, the 296 GT3), have a nice engine note, and pretty cool turbo flutters and noises. The GTE car in particular, while revving a bit lower than the GT3, has a signature loud bang on upshifts that is not present on the GT3 variant.
